DONATE TO HELP US COVER CRITICAL AREAS OF NEED
Every year, thousands of surrendered and stray animals find their way to our shelter, seeking veterinary treatment, refuge and care.
From the moment they arrive until the day they find their forever homes, our committed team of vets, foster carers and volunteers work tirelessly to provide them with the support they need.
However, this level of care comes with its challenges and expenses. We cannot do it alone.
Your donation today can truly change lives. Your contribution directly impacts the well-being, health, and happiness of these companion animals who rely on us.
Join us in making a difference. Donate now to support our critical mission.
"EVERY ANIMAL THAT COMES THROUGH OUR DOORS RELIES ON US TO PROVIDE THEM THE BEST CARE THAT WE CAN...
. . . and we rely on you, the community, for generous donations to make this happen.”
- Mikaela Thrift, Rehoming Manager,
AWLQ Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre
With the rising cost of living, the influx of stray and surrendered animals to our shelter continues to grow.
You see, we’re usually their only hope… but we’re often unimaginably stretched to capacity.
For the past 65 years, Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) has been embracing a brighter future for animals in need. And we do all of this with no Government funding for our welfare work.
As the cost for caring for so many animals rises, especially for vital veterinary care, we really need your support
Please help us with a life-saving donation.
In the past year alone, generous contributions like yours have made a profound difference in the lives of animals facing uncertain futures. Thanks to your support:
11,614 animals receiving urgent shelter & care
7,409 animals finding their forever homes
4,126 animals nurtured by our foster carers
2,244 lost pets reunited with their loving families
DONATE TO COVER A PET'S URGENT NEEDS
Our welfare work is 100% Donor Funded.
Our welfare work relies entirely on the generosity of donors like you. With no government funding, every dollar you contribute directly impacts the lives of animals in need.
The most significant area of expenditure is veterinary care, which also yields the most life-saving results.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today. Your contribution, no matter the amount, makes a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable animals.
We help them heal. But your donation gets them home.
You have the power to grant a wish for a shelter animal.
With an average cost of $968 for preparing a dog and $982 for a cat for their new homes, your generous support will help them find a happy home.
ALBERT
Believe it or not, I wasn't always the sleek and handsome feline you see before you. I started my journey at the pound, surrendered with a heap of health issues.
Back then, I tipped the scales at a whopping 9.8 kilograms.
Thankfully, things took a turn for the better when I came to AWLQ. I was put on a specialised diet and given some much-needed grooming.
Sent to a loving foster family, it was here that my true ginger personality emerged. I'm a lover of people, always up for a play session, and oh-so-persistent. It's no wonder everyone fell head over paws for me!
I'm now the luckiest cat ever, I’ve just found my fur-ever home!
BICHON & CAVALIER PUPPIES
Yep, there were nine of us that turned up on the doorstep of the shelter. We were pretty scared, our fur was matted and stained with urine. I’m sure we weren’t the prettiest sight.
My sis Rosa had an untreated leg fracture, and most of us others had either dental disease, some ear infections, umbilical hernias, cataracts, blocked tear ducts or dermatitis.
But our lives were completely changed the moment AWLQ took us in. Creating a treatment plan for each of us, we all got the urgent vet care we needed and training to help us with re-socialisation.
But the thing that has our tails wagging most? Today, every single one of us have now been adopted into a new loving home. It’s better than we dreamed!
SQUEAK
I was just a tiny ball of fur, exploring the world with wide eyes and a curious heart when I accidentally stumbled upon a carpet python that very nearly took my life!
I was rushed to emergency vet care at AWLQ. I was unconscious for a period of time and just when the vets thought I might not make it, I pulled through.
Although I made a full recovery, I now have a very slight head shake and I occasionally make a squeaking noise - hence my name!
But it’s all worth it because I’ve found the best human to look after me. It's definitely been the purrfect match!
Thank You for Getting Them Home...
