EVERY EMERGENCY. EVERY HEARTBREAK. EVERY ANIMAL. WE ANSWER THE CALL.
When crisis strikes, animals are often the most forgotten victims. This year has pushed us to our breaking point:
- CYCLONE ALFRED: We evacuated 300 animals when our facilities were forced to close. Our team worked tirelessly through the night, refusing to leave any animal behind.
- DISEASE OUTBREAKS: Deadly parvovirus and feline panleukopenia cases are surging, requiring intensive treatment that's stretching our resources to their limits.
- RISING COSTS: Due to the cost of living crisis, some pet owners are being forced to make heartbreaking decisions to surrender their pet.
Yet through it all, we never turn away an animal we know we can help.
From crisis to care - we'll always be there. But we can't do it alone.
Your tax-deductible donation before June 30 can be the reason a frightened animal finds comfort, an injured pet receives life-saving care, and crisis turns to hope.
*Donate $100 or more before June 30 and you'll go into the draw to win a $250 Robina Town Centre Gift Card PLUS a $100 voucher to our Community Vet Clinic! T&C’s Apply, see Robina Town Centre website for details.

Your compassion in action: The difference you've made
We're not just a shelter, we're a lifeline for animals in need - and it's all thanks to you!
7,409 animals found loving homes last year.

12,038 animals cared for in the past year.

$0 government funding for our welfare work - we rely on your support.

Because when crisis strikes, animals like Lulu need us.
Lulu, a 2-year-old French Bulldog, came to us in critical condition. For a long time, she had endured unimaginable suffering from severe, ear infections. Simple movements, like shaking her head, caused her immense pain. Scratching her ears made her flinch. Simple joys that other dogs take for granted – a gentle pat, the comfort of lying down to rest, the excitement of playtime – were fraught with pain.
She needed urgent, complex surgery – an expensive procedure many shelters wouldn’t attempt.
But we did.
Our team operated, cared, and never gave up — because dogs like Lulu deserve that chance.

From crisis to care to a loving home - Lulu is evidence of what your compassion creates
Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary team and the support of donors like you, Lulu received the life-saving surgery she desperately needed. Dr. Ali performed the 3-hour surgery, describing it as "a salvage procedure to save her life."
Despite her pain, Lulu's sweet nature shone through. She still approached people with a hopeful wag of her tail and loving eyes.
Healing under the close supervision of a dedicated foster carer, today, we're thrilled to share that she's been adopted into a loving forever home!
But Lulu is just one of thousands of animals who need our help. With your support today, we can continue to be there for every animal in crisis.
Your donation before June 30 helps us say yes to more animals like Lulu.
WHERE YOUR DOLLARS GO
At AWLQ, we maximise every dollar to make the greatest impact possible. Your donation goes directly to providing essential care for things like:

Supporting our Community Vet Clinics that provided $1.575 million in charitable veterinary services last year

Maintaining our emergency boarding program for pets in crisis.
With no government funding for our welfare work, we rely entirely on your generosity to cover rising costs for medical supplies, specialised equipment, foster care materials, and the daily essentials that keep our shelters running.
Meet the animals you're helping
"Hi, I'm Lulu!"

For years, I lived with unbearable pain in my ears. Every sound, every touch made me whimper. By the time I arrived at AWLQ, my infections were so severe, the vets said they'd never seen anything like it. I needed a complex and expensive surgery to remove both my ear lobes and ear canals.
I was so frightened, but the team at AWLQ never gave up on me. Dr. Ali spent 4 hours in surgery saving my life! Even though I couldn't hear them, I could feel their kindness through gentle hands and warm blankets.
Today, I'm pain-free and living my best life in my forever home! I may not hear the same way other dogs do, but I can feel love better than most. AWLQ was there when no one else would be.
"Reynolds here!"

One moment I was crossing the street, the next everything went dark. A car hit me and left me for dead. When I woke up at AWLQ's Community Vet Clinic, I couldn't move my tail and was in horrible pain.
The vets discovered I had what they call a "dead tail" – severe nerve damage that meant my tail would never work again. They had to perform emergency surgery to amputate it, which cost nearly $3,000.
Despite everything, I never lost my spirit! I adapted quickly to life without a tail (turns out I'm quite the balancing expert now). Thanks to AWLQ, I've found a loving home where I can live the carefree life every young cat deserves. Who needs a tail when you have this much love?
"They call me Stanley"

I was just a 5-month-old pup enjoying playtime in the exercise yard when suddenly – SNAKE! Before I knew what was happening, it had wrapped around my leg and body.
The amazing AWLQ team leapt into action. They carefully restrained me while removing the snake (which was quite scary for them too, I bet!). When I went into shock, they rushed me to the vet clinic for immediate treatment.
Thankfully, the snake wasn't venomous, but it was still a close call! After some recovery time with a wonderful foster family, I found my forever home. AWLQ saved my life when disaster struck, and I'll forever be grateful for their quick thinking and brave hearts.
